How to Bleach Your Skin at Home
Bleaching with a potato
You read that right, you can bleach almost all the darkened areas of the body such as the face, armpits, thighs, nipples, and more with a potato! Potatoes contain an enzyme known as Catecholase, which is a pigment reducer that controls dark blemishes, acne, and scarring. Potatoes also contain potassium which helps to moisturize and hydrate the skin to keep it well nourished.
In terms of how to properly use the potato for skin lightening, there are a few simple ways. For starters, you could peel the vegetable itself and directly apply the raw end of it to the desired area that needs to be lightened. By doing this, you’re allowing your skin to soak up the juices of the potato so it can begin the lightening process. There have been excellent results of this, specifically for the armpits.
Another way to utilize the potato is by making a unique blend of potato juice and rose water by combining the two into a daily serum. Consider adding in honey or lemon juice to this mixture to maximize hydration, boost skin lightening, and create a thicker consistency.
It’s always a good idea to allow the serum or paste to sit on the skin until it’s thoroughly dried down. You can leave the serum on throughout the day, but the paste formula should be washed off with warm water when it’s thoroughly dried.
With regular use of the potato method, you can achieve a lighter pigmentation in the areas it’s applied to. However, keep in mind that skin lightening with a potato only has “mild” capabilities for bleaching and it could take longer to have whiter, brighter, skin in certain areas.
Bleaching with a tomato
Tomatoes are another excellent alternative for lightening the skin. Not only do tomatoes contain Vitamin A which helps to fade away dark spots and blemishes, but they also encompass Vitamin B and C which are common ingredients found in many of the skin lightening products we use today. Vitamin B specifically, works as a wrinkle and fine line reducer, while also enforcing the production of new cell regrowth. Combine this with Vitamin C, which is known to be one of the most effective all-natural skin lightening ingredients in the world, and you have yourself a powerful skin bleaching agent all inside one vegetable!
There are a few ways to utilize the essence of tomato. One way is to mash it up entirely and directly apply it. We recommend you use a sieve first to strain all the seeds out of the tomato so it can be easily implemented into a lightener. Consider adding in a tablespoon of lemon curd to amp up your mixture for extra lightening benefits.
You can also blend ½ of a tomato with a tablespoon of honey to make a facial mask or spot treatment. Just be sure to let it sit for at least 15 minutes before washing off.
Bleaching with a cucumber
Cucumbers contain a few fantastic ingredients to improve the skin. For starters, cucumbers are made up of 80% water, which helps to keep the skin hydrated and avoids the chances of potential dryness, itching, and peeling that can occur with the skin. They also contain Vitamin A and C, which as mentioned above, are two amazing ingredients to help lighten the skin and promote cell regrowth.
If you’re someone who regularly experiences cases of eczema, then using a cucumber is an excellent way to combat these rashes from occurring. Cucumbers contain Vitamin B1, which helps to enhance the circulation of blood and helps to protect the skin from eczema or other skin rashes from reoccurring.
To use a cucumber for skin lightening, start by peeling it first then cutting it up. Next, you’ll want to put the pieces of cucumber into a blender. Be sure to add in ¼ cup of water to help the blender spin more easily. You’ll now want to grab your handy sieve and line it with cheesecloth, this will be used to collect all the excess remnants of the veggie so you can have the pure cucumber juice. Once you have your sieve lined with cloth you can now begin pouring the blended cucumber through the strainer. After you have entirely drained the blended cucumber, bring all the corners of the cloth together and hold it above the bowel, squeezing the remaining juice out.
With pure cucumber juice, you can utilize it in a few ways. The simplest would be to apply the liquid directly to the areas you want to lighten. However, we suggest adding aloe vera gel and yogurt to the mix and distributing it on the skin, then leaving it on for a total of 25 minutes before washing away.
Yogurt on its own is a great exfoliant, while aloe is very nourishing and helps to hydrate the skin. Using this mixture will not only lighten the skin but also help slough away dead skin cells while nourishing the skin.
Bleaching with an orange peel
If you didn’t know, oranges are high in citric acid, making them full of Vitamin C. The oranges peel is also rich with Vitamin C as well, making it a useful natural skin lightening remedy.
For the recipe, you won’t be needing the orange itself, but instead, its peel. However, don’t worry, if you want to utilize the full fruit, you can add the juices from it into this mixture.
Start by peeling the orange and letting the peels dry out. We recommend slicing them into several even pieces then putting them on a baking sheet for baking. Next, bake for 30-60 minutes on the 200-degree setting. Lastly, let the peels cool then begin grounding them into a powder. You will need a grinder for this step to grind the skins of the orange into a fine powder.
You can then add honey and rosewater to the powder to create a paste-like consistency. Use this paste to apply on the desired areas that are unevenly toned or dark.
As an alternative, you can also directly apply pure orange juice over the areas that appear darker. Though it may sound weird, it has been known to lighten some areas considerably. We also recommend drinking a glass of orange juice a day to promote good skin health.
Bleaching with lemon juice
Lemon is also another fruit that is rich in Vitamin C, making it an excellent choice for skin lightening. Those who have used lemon juice have noticed immediate results after only using for a short amount of time.
Start by squeezing the lemon until it’s entirely “juiced.” Once the fruit is drained, you can either apply the juices of the lemon directly to the skin or add in honey, curd or glycerin to thicken the consistency for a paste.
Because lemon juice is potent, we recommend avoiding the areas around the eye to prevent irritation or burning. It’s also highly recommended to avoid direct sunlight after using lemon juice as a skin lightening treatment. The reason for this is because the skin is can be very sensitive to the sun right after a lemon juice application.
Follow up with a broad SPF sunscreen to keep the skin nourished and protected.
Bleaching with oatmeal
On its own, oatmeal has no lightening properties. It does, however, make for the perfect exfoliant for the skin. By pairing oatmeal with the right ingredients such as yogurt, olive oil, and lemon juice, you can concoct a lightening formula to alter the pigmentation in the skin.
Start by mixing one tablespoon of grounded oats, one tablespoon of yogurt, two tablespoons of lemon juice, and one tablespoon of olive oil into a glass bowl. Once mixed thoroughly, apply the mixture onto the desired area, allowing it to dry completely. After 30 minutes have passed, wash off with cold water. We recommend using a body lotion to help re-moisturize the skin.
Ideally, you want to do this process two times a week to notice any significant results of dark pigmentation reduction.
